স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জাহিদ মালেক বলেছেন, ‘নির্বাচন ছাড়াই ক্ষমতায় যেতে চায় বিএনপি, সরকার পরিবর্তন করতে চায়, যা কখনো সম্ভব নয়। সরকার পরিবর্তনের একমাত্র মাধ্যম নির্বাচন।’
আজ শুক্রবার সন্ধ্যায় মানিকগঞ্জ প্রাইমারি টিচার্স ট্রেনিং ইনস্টিটিউট (পিটিআই) মাঠে পৌর আওয়ামী লীগের ১,২ ও ৩ নং ওয়ার্ডের কর্মী সমাবেশে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন।
স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘যারা স্বাধীনতা মানে না তারা আজও বিদেশে বাংলাদেশের বদনাম করে, যাতে দেশের উন্নয়ন না হয়। আওয়ামী লীগ দেশের উন্নয়ন করে আর বিএনপি-জামায়াত ষড়যন্ত্র করে।’
করোনার ভ্যাকসিন দেওয়া প্রসঙ্গে তিনি বলেন, ‘পৃথিবীর মধ্যে এত ভ্যাকসিন এত অল্প সময়ে কোনো দেশ দিতে পারে নাই। আমাদের আশেপাশের দেশের কী অবস্থা ছিল আপনারা জানেন। আমাদের পাশের দেশে অক্সিজেনের অভাবে মানুষ মারা গেছে, আমরা টেলিভিশনে দেখেছি। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশে সেই ধরনের কোনো ঘটনা ঘটে নাই। আমরা প্রায় ৩৪ কোটি ভ্যাকসিন এই বাংলাদেশের মানুষকে দিয়েছি। আমাদের দেশে ভ্যাকসিন তৈরি হয় না। সরকারের যোগ্যতায় দ্রুত সময়ের মধ্যে আমরা দেশের মানুষকে ভ্যাকসিন দিতে সক্ষম হয়েছি।’
পৌর আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি আরশেদ আলী বিশ্বাসের সভাপতিত্বে ও সাধারণ সম্পাদক জাহিদুল ইসলাম জাহিদের সঞ্চালনায় এতে বক্তব্য দেন জেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সাধারণ সম্পাদক আব্দুস সালাম।
অন্যদের মধ্যে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সিনিয়র-সহ সভাপতি অ্যাডভোকেট আব্দুল মজিদ ফটো, পৌরসভার মেয়র ও সাবেক সহ-সভাপতি মো. রমজান আলী, সাবেক যুগ্ম সাধারণ সম্পাদক সুলতানুল আজম খান আপেল, সাবেক সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক সুদেব কুমার সাহা, সদর উপজেলা আওয়ামী লীগের সভাপতি ইসরাফিল হোসেন, সাধারণ সম্পাদক আফসার উদ্দিন সরকার প্রমুখ।
