কত যুগ আগে বিপ্লবী কবি কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম লিখেছিলেন, ‘সকালবেলার আমির রে ভাই, ফকির সন্ধ্যাবেলা’। তেমন ঘটনাই ঘটেছে সখীপুরের কচুয়াতে গতকাল সকালে। বিরাট ব্যবসায়ী শওকত আলীর তেলের ডিপোতে হঠাৎই আগুন লেগে সবকিছু জ্বলেপুড়ে খাক হয়ে গেছে। অনেক সংগ্রাম অনেক চিৎকার ফাৎকার করে ফায়ার সার্ভিস স্টেশন করেছিলাম। ফায়ার সার্ভিস দারুণ ভূমিকা রেখেছে। নিজেরা তো সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ছুটে গেছেই, এদিক-ওদিক থেকে আরও কয়েকটি গাড়ি এনে দ্রুত আগুন নেভানোর চেষ্টা করেছে। তা না হলে আশপাশে আর কত বাড়িঘর কতজন যে সর্বস্বান্ত হতো বলা যায় না। নির্বাচন কমিশনের কাছে আমার অনুরোধ থাকবে- এটা তো কোনো নাশকতা নয়? নাশকতা না হলেও শওকত আলীকে যথাযোগ্য সরকারি সহযোগিতার অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছি।
গতকাল থেকে শুরু হয়েছে দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদের নির্বাচনি প্রচার। দ্বাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন যেভাবে হবে আশা করেছিলাম সেভাবে হচ্ছে না, অনেকটা এদিক-সেদিক হচ্ছে। অনেকেই অনেকটা আশাহত। বর্তমান সরকারি দল জোটবদ্ধ নির্বাচন করবে এটা অনেকবারই বলেছে। কিন্তু শেষ মুহূর্তে যা হচ্ছে তা মানুষের কাছে তামাশার মতো মনে হচ্ছে। আগ বাড়িয়ে কথা বলা আমার অভ্যাস নয়। বিচার-বিবেচনা না করে জীবনে খুব বেশি কথা বলিনি। একবার গাজীপুর সিটি করপোরেশন নির্বাচন নিয়ে নারায়ণগঞ্জের এক জনসভায় বলেছিলাম, আওয়ামী লীগ প্রার্থী লক্ষাধিক ভোটে হারবে। গণক হিসেবে বলিনি, এলাকার লোকজনের সঙ্গে যতটা জানাজানি ছিল, যোগাযোগ ছিল, দুই-তিনবার ময়মনসিংহ যাতায়াতের সময় এবং দুবার সখীপুর থেকে কালমেঘা হয়ে জৈনাবাজার, সেখান থেকে ঢাকার পথে লোকজনের কাছে যখন যা শুনেছি তার ওপর ভরসা করে ওই মন্তব্য করেছিলাম। আল্লাহর অসীম দয়ায় আওয়ামী লীগ প্রার্থী ১ লাখ কয়েক হাজার ভোটে হেরেছিল। জোটের সবার কথা বলছি না, জোটবদ্ধ হয়ে আওয়ামী লীগ প্রার্থী ছাড়াই এবার নির্বাচনে স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থীর কাছে হাসানুল হক ইনু সাহেব যে হারবেন না এটা গ্যারান্টি দিয়ে বলা যায় না। আরও দু-চারজন জোটের মস্ত বড় বড় নেতা তারাও হেরে যেতে পারেন। মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বোন হাসিনা এবার তাঁর দলের স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থীদের ওপর থেকে নিষেধাজ্ঞা তুলে নিয়েছেন। এ কারণে অনেকের বাড়া ভাতে ছাই পড়বে। যতদূর জানি, মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী নির্বাচনে কারচুপি চান না। এখানে আবার জাতীয় পার্টির রংঢং দেখে বিস্মিত না হয়ে পারি না। তারা এর মধ্যেও সিট ভাগাভাগি চান। আসল সত্য হলো- এটাকে একটা প্রকৃত নির্বাচন বলে চালানো যাবে কি না জোর দিয়ে বলতে পারি না। হ্যাঁ, সিট ভাগাভাগির প্রয়োজন শাসকদলের হয়তো ছিল, যদি প্রধান বিরোধী দল নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করত। যে কোনো কারণেই হোক তারা নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করেনি বা নির্বাচনে যাওয়ার সাহস করেনি অথবা দেশের জনগণের প্রতি তাদের আস্থার অভাব আছে। গত ২৮ অক্টোবরের পর রাজনীতি বিএনপির হাতছাড়া হয়ে যাওয়ায় এবং অনেক নেতা-কর্মী বন্দি হওয়ায় তারা নির্বাচনের পরিবেশ পাচ্ছে না তাই যাচ্ছে না। এ অবস্থায় জোট শরিকদের দিকে সরকারি দলের তাকাবার কোনো অবকাশ ছিল না। তেমন হলে হয়তো মানুষের কাছে নির্বাচনটা কিছুটা বিশ্বাসযোগ্য হতো। বাংলাদেশের প্রায় প্রতিটি নির্বাচনে এখন প্রধান সমস্যা হচ্ছে স্বচ্ছতার অভাব। জোর করে ভোট নেওয়া, ৫-১০-২০ জনের ভোট একজনে দেওয়া এসব জাল-জালিয়াতি বন্ধ হলে অনেকটাই ভালো হতো। নৌকাপ্রত্যাশী অনেকেই স্বতন্ত্র দাঁড়িয়েছেন। তারা অনেকেই জিতবেন। তাদের ভোট কারচুপি করতে হবে না। তারা সংসদে গেলে জনগণ খুশিও হবে। তারা দেখবে তাদের ভোটে নির্বাচিত সংসদ সদস্য। বেশিদূর যাব কেন, নানা উথাল-পাথালের পর ফরিদপুরে হা-মীম গ্রুপের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক এ কে আজাদ স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হয়েছেন। রাজনীতিটা কোনো ব্যবসা নয়। কিন্তু ভদ্রলোক ছাত্ররাজনীতি করেছেন। এখনো আওয়ামী লীগের রাজনীতির সঙ্গে ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িত। আল্লাহ তাকে বিত্তের স্বাদ দিয়েছেন। আর দলের মধ্যেও যথেষ্ট জনপ্রিয়তা আছে, জনগণের মধ্যেও আছে। অগ্রিম বলা ভালো না, তবু বলছি তিনি আওয়ামী লীগের লোক হয়েও স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসেবে জয়যুক্ত হবেন এমনটাই আমার ধারণা। এরকম ঘটনা আরও ঘটবে। তবে বড় কথা এরা সবাই আওয়ামী লীগ নেত্রী মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর লোক। তাকেই তারা সমর্থন করবেন। এমনও হতে পারে এই সংসদে দলীয় সংসদ সদস্যের চাইতে স্বতন্ত্র সংসদ সদস্যের সংখ্যা বেশি হতে পারে। আর সেটা হলে বাংলাদেশের সংসদীয় গণতন্ত্রের ইতিহাসে তো বটেই, সারা বিশ্বের নির্বাচনের ইতিহাসে এ এক ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা হয়ে থাকবে। এর তাৎপর্যও হবে অনেক সুদূরপ্রসারী। তবে এটা খুবই সত্য, এখন পর্যন্ত বলতে গেলে তেমন কোথাও লেভেল প্লেয়িং ফিল্ড হয়নি। সরকারি দলের লোকজনের হাবভাব দেখে মনে হয় তারা ক্ষমতার ধন্ধেই আছেন।
প্রকৃতই অবাধ সরকারি প্রভাবমুক্ত নির্বাচন হলে জোর গলায় বলতে পারি বরিশাল-২ এর কৃষক শ্রমিক জনতা লীগের প্রার্থী নকুল কুমার বিশ্বাস নির্ঘাত বিজয়ী হবে। ঘরে ঘরে তার পরিচিতি। কদিন আগে বরিশালের উজিরপুরে গিয়েছিলাম। উজিরপুরের প্রবাদপুরুষ হরনাথ বাইন একসময় ছিলেন এলাকার প্রাতঃস্মরণীয় ব্যক্তি। তার সমাধিতে আত্মার শান্তি কামনা করে বড় ছেলে পরিমল বাইন অনুর সঙ্গে কথা বলে একদিনে যতটা সম্ভব তা ঘোরাফেরা করার চেষ্টা করেছি। গিয়েছিলাম ডাবেরকুল। কয়েক শ মানুষকে বড় বেশি ভালো লেগেছে। তার মধ্যে আওয়ামী লীগের বেশ কয়েকজন নেতা-কর্মী বলছিলেন, ‘আপনাকে আমরা ভালোবাসি। আপনার চাইতে বঙ্গবন্ধুর প্রিয় তেমন কেউ নেই। বঙ্গবন্ধুর জন্য মুখে মুখে অনেকে অনেক কথা বললেও হৃদয় দিয়ে তেমন কেউ কিছু করে না। আপনার আজকের কথার একদিন না একদিন মূল্য হবেই হবে।’ সেখান থেকে আরও এগিয়ে সন্ধ্যা নদীর পার ঘেঁষে গিয়েছিলাম কুচিয়ারপাড় গ্রামে। হতদরিদ্র কয়েকটা দাসবাড়ির মাঝে উঠানে বসেছিলাম। বহুদিন পর বাইরের খাবার খেয়ে ভীষণ তৃপ্তি পেয়েছি। নকুলও সঙ্গে ছিল, সেও মাটিতে বসে মজা করে খেয়েছে। এরপর গিয়েছিলাম অবিনাশ বিশ্বাসের বাড়িতে। সেখানে জোহরের নামাজ আদায় করেছিলাম। বহু বছর আগে সম্রাট আওরঙ্গজেব কাশিতে এক হিন্দু বাড়িতে নামাজ আদায় করেছিলেন। আমিও শেষ বয়সে কীভাবে কীভাবে যেন তেমনটাই করে ফেললাম। আমার তেমন কোনো খারাপ লাগেনি। বরং ভালোই লেগেছে। আল্লাহর দুনিয়ায় আমরা হিন্দু, মুসলমান, বৌদ্ধ, খ্রিস্টান যারা বাস করি সবই তো মহান আল্লাহর সৃষ্টি। সেখানে শেষ পর্যন্ত আওয়ামী লীগের প্রার্থী তালুকদার মো. ইউনুসকে প্রত্যাহার করে ওয়ার্কার্স পার্টির নেতা রাশেদ খান মেননকে দিয়েছে। জনাব রাশেদ খান মেনন একজন প্রবীণ রাজনীতিবিদ, সম্ভ্রান্ত পরিবারের সন্তান। কিন্তু এলাকায় থাকেননি, সব সময় ঢাকায় থাকেন, ঢাকায় রাজনীতি করেন। আমার তো মনে হয়, সেখানে আমার গামছা অনেক ভোটের ব্যবধানে জয়ী হবে।
দেখা যাক কেবল নির্বাচনি প্রচার শুরু হলো, সামনে কেমন কী হয়। বহুদিন পর আমিও নির্বাচনে দাঁড়িয়েছি। হয়তো এটাই আমার শেষ নির্বাচন। কারণ বয়স হয়েছে। যাকে দেখে রাজনীতিতে এসেছিলাম সেই বড়ভাই লতিফ সিদ্দিকীও স্বতন্ত্র প্রার্থী হিসেবে কালিহাতীতে দাঁড়িয়েছেন। তারও শেষ নির্বাচন হতে পারে। আমরা কৃষক শ্রমিক জনতা লীগ নিবন্ধিত দল। গামছা প্রতীক। তাই ঘরে ঘরে গামছা নিয়ে এখনই আলোচনা হচ্ছে। বোন আমার প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী দিয়েছেন শওকত মোমেন শাজাহানের ছেলে জয়কে। যে আমার ছেলের থেকেও ছোট। ভালোই করেছেন, ইচ্ছে হয়েছে দিয়েছেন। এ নিয়ে আমার কোনো শোক-আফসোস নেই। মুক্তিযুদ্ধের শুরুতে আমি যদি সখীপুরে না যেতাম তাহলে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সূতিকাগার হিসেবে সখীপুর পরিচিত হতো না। বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধে মহান গৌরবের ভাগীদার সখীপুর। সখীপুর-বাসাইলের মানুষের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের গৌরবের কথা আজ বিশ্বব্যাপী আলোচিত। ঠিক সময় সখীপুরে না গেলে সখীপুরের অনেক নেতাই কারাগারে থাকত। অনেকেই রাজাকার, আলবদর, দালাল হতো। সখীপুর যেমন বিশ্বনন্দিত হয়েছে, তেমনি তাদের সহযোগিতায় আমিও বিশ্বনন্দিত হয়েছি। আমি আমার হৃদয় দিয়ে সারা দেশের মানুষকেই ভালোবাসি। বাসাইল-সখীপুরের জায়গা তার মধ্যেও আলাদা। তবে আমার মনের মধ্যে একটা বিরাট ক্ষোভ কাজ করে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধ আমাকে অনেক বড় করেছে। কিন্তু বন্ধুহারা করেছে। যারা একসময় ভাই বলত, বন্ধু বলত যুদ্ধের মধ্যে তারা স্যার বলতে শুরু করে। মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের স্যার বলা মানানসই হলেও পরবর্তীতে যখন অনেকেই স্যার বলে ডাকত, এখনো ডাকে তাতে আমার বড় বেশি খারাপ লাগে। মুক্তিযুদ্ধে বেটা, ভাইস্তা, বন্ধু-বান্ধব সব হারিয়েছি। অনেক কিছু স্যারের নিচে ঢাকা পড়ে গেছে। এখনকার ছেলেমেয়েরা ভাই বলে, চাচা বলে, দাদা বলে ডাকলে বুক জুড়িয়ে যায়। অনেকে ডাকেও। কিন্তু কেন যেন স্যার ডাকার প্রবণতা এখনো কাটেনি। কবে কাটবে তাও জানি না। আমার জীবদ্দশায় হয়তো কাটবে না। তবে বাসাইল-সখীপুরের বাচ্চারা অনেকেই দাদা, ভাই, চাচা, দাদু নামে ডাকে। এসব আমার বেশ ভালোই লাগে। যাক, যে বিষয়ে বলছিলাম এবার নির্বাচন যেটুকুই হোক ভালো না হলে দেশের যেমন ক্ষতি হবে, তেমনি বোন শেখ হাসিনারও বেশি ক্ষতি হবে। তাই ভোটারের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত ভোটদানের একটি নির্বাচন অবশ্য অবশ্যই প্রত্যাশা করি।
মৃত্যুসংবাদ কেন যেন আমার পিছু ছাড়ছে না। কদিন আগে জাহাঙ্গীর তালুকদার ইহলোক ত্যাগ করেছে। তালুকদার বংশের মকবুল হোসেন খোকা তালুকদার মুক্তিযুদ্ধে অসাধারণ ভূমিকা রেখেছে। প্রত্যক্ষ যোদ্ধা হিসেবে আর কোনো তালুকদার খোকা তালুকদারের মতো অত সম্মুখযুদ্ধে অংশ নেয়নি বা নিতে পারেনি। সেই খোকা তালুকদারের ভাতিজা ডাক্তার হালিম তালুকদারের ছেলে জাহাঙ্গীর নানা জটিল রোগে ভোগে সেদিন আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেছে। আবার এই দুই দিন হলো মকবুল হোসেন খোকার স্ত্রী বিউটি হঠাৎই আমাদের মায়া কাটিয়ে পরপারে চলে গেল। মকবুল হোসেন খোকা একজন বিখ্যাত যোদ্ধা তো বটেই, মুক্তিযুদ্ধে আমি গুলিবিদ্ধ হলে খোকা, হালিম, শামসু, দুলালসহ কয়েকজন ১৬ আগস্ট থেকে ২৪ আগস্ট পর্যন্ত কী যে যত্ন করেছে। ডেটল, গরম পানি এই ছিল প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে আমার ক্ষতস্থানের দাওয়াই। ২৪ আগস্ট বারাঙ্গাপাড়ায় চার-পাঁচজনে আমাকে গোসল করিয়েছিল। ওরকম লম্বা সময় আমি জীবনে কখনো গোসল ছাড়া থাকিনি। আমার সব সময় মনে হয়, ওই সময় কৃষি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অধ্যয়নরত ছাত্র মকবুল হোসেন খোকা না থাকলে আমার হাত-পায়ের কোনো একটা অবশ্য অবশ্যই কেটে ফেলতে হতো। সেই খোকার স্ত্রী বিউটি আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে যাওয়ায় যারপরনাই ব্যথিত হয়েছি। মহান আল্লাহ তাকে বেহেশতবাসী করুন, তার পরিবার-পরিজনদের এই গভীর শোক সইবার শক্তি দিন। আমিন।
দুই দিন আগে মহান বিজয় দিবস গেল। বুঝতেই পারলাম না, কোনো সাড়াশব্দ নেই, কোনো আনন্দ নেই। গতানুগতিক অন্য দিনের মতো বিজয় দিবসও চলে গেল। কোনো সাড়াশব্দ পাওয়া গেল না। কত রক্ত দিয়ে স্বাধীনতা অর্জন করলাম, যে পতাকা আনলাম একটি বাড়িঘর, দোকানপাটেও সে পতাকা উড়ল না। কেন এমন হলো! মনে হয় স্বাধীনতার জন্য কারও কোনো আবেগ-বিবেক নেই। স্বাধীনতা যদি এতই নিরানন্দ হবে, তাহলে আমাদের রক্ত দেওয়ার কি প্রয়োজন ছিল? একবারও কি কেউ ভাবেন বাংলাদেশ স্বাধীন না হলে এত ঠাটবাট, এত অর্থবিত্ত, কোটি মানুষের সারা দুনিয়ায় বেগার খাটার কিছুই হতো না। এক-দেড় কোটি মানুষের বিদেশ যাওয়া তো দূরের কথা, এক-দুই লাখ পাসপোর্টও বাঙালিরা পেত না। এসবে আমাদের কি কোনো ত্রুটি নেই? আমরা ক্ষমতা নিয়ে কাড়াকাড়িতে আছি। কিন্তু দেশের মানুষের ভালোমন্দ, আবেগ-অনুভূতির প্রতি কতটা দৃষ্টি দিয়েছি, কতটা নজর দিয়েছি? মানুষ যে এতটা উদাসীন, এখানে কি আমাদের কোনো ত্রুটি, কোনো ব্যর্থতা নেই? মাস কয়েক আগে টাঙ্গাইল শহীদ স্মৃতি পৌর উদ্যানে পাড়ার এক ক্লাবের গানের অনুষ্ঠান হচ্ছিল। আমি ঢাকা থেকে আসছিলাম। উদ্যানের পাশ দিয়ে রাস্তা, গাড়ি নিয়ে যাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না। এত মানুষজনের ভিড়। আর সেদিন ১৬ ডিসেম্বর বিজয় দিবসে গানবাজনা হলো ধরে আনা কিছু লোকজন এবং স্কুলের বাচ্চা ছাড়া তেমন কাউকে দেখা গেল না, কিন্তু কেন? আমরা তো ১৪ আগস্ট পাকিস্তানের স্বাধীনতা দিবসে ঘরে ঘরে মোমবাতি জ্বালিয়েছি, কত খেলাধুলা, গানবাজনা, নাটক-থিয়েটার, কত জলসা। কিছুই তো দেখলাম না। কোনো সাংস্কৃতিক দলের কোনো অনুষ্ঠান নেই, সরকারিভাবে পার্কে ব্যবস্থা করা খেলা ছাড়া, কোনো ক্লাব, কোনো পাড়া, অন্য কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠানে কোনো কিছু নেই। ঢাকায় বিএনপি একটি মিছিল করলেও আর কোথাও কিছু করা হয়নি। টাঙ্গাইলে তো বিএনপি, জাতীয় পার্টি, বামপন্থি, ডানপন্থি কারও কোনো কর্মসূচি দেখলাম না, কোনো কিছু শুনলাম না। স্বাধীনতা তো শুধু সরকারের নয়, শুধু আওয়ামী লীগের নয়, স্বাধীনতা সবার। কোথায় আমরা সবাইকে সম্পৃক্ত করতে পারলাম? স্বাধীনতার অনেক বড় বড় পুরোধাকে অসম্মান ছাড়া কোনো সম্মান করা তো হলো না। খবরের কাগজে, ইলেকট্র্রনিক মিডিয়ায় কখনো কখনো কিছু মুক্তিযোদ্ধাকে তুলে ধরা হয় যারা রিকশা চালায়, লোকজনের কাছে হাত পাতে তাদের। মুক্তিযোদ্ধারা যে তেমন মর্যাদায় নেই, শান্তিতে নেই। এটাও তারা বুঝতে পারে না। ১৬ ডিসেম্বর বিজয় অর্জন যে কত কঠিন ছিল আজ অনেকেই তা বুঝতে চায় না। দেশে যেভাবে ক্ষমতার হালুয়া-রুটি নিয়ে টানাটানি চলছে তাতে করে নতুন প্রজন্ম তাদের মধ্যে গভীর দেশপ্রেম না জাগা কোনো দোষের কথা নয়। আমরা তো সেভাবে যুবসমাজের সামনে দেশটাকে উপস্থাপনই করতে পারলাম না। কার কত অর্থ, কার কত ক্ষমতা এ নিয়েই আমরা কাড়াকাড়িতে ব্যস্ত। জানি না এখনো সময় আছে কি না দেশের মানুষকে উজ্জীবিত করার, উৎসাহিত করার। মানুষকে সত্য না বলে মিথ্যার আবরণে কখনো উৎসাহিত করা যায় না। কী দুর্ভাগ্য আমার! বিজয় দিবসে অনেকে ভাসুরের নাম নেওয়ার মতো আমাকে নিয়ে দ্বিধা করেন। টাঙ্গাইল, ময়মনসিংহ, সিরাজগঞ্জ, পাবনা, মানিকগঞ্জ, ঢাকার কিছু অংশ নিয়ে ছিল কাদেরিয়া বাহিনীর মুক্তাঞ্চল। সেখানে অন্য কারও বিন্দুমাত্র ভূমিকা ছিল না। ঠিক তেমনি ১৬ ডিসেম্বর একমাত্র বাঙালি হিসেবে হানাদার নিয়াজির গুহায় গিয়েছিলাম। মেজর জেনারেল নাগরা, ব্রিগেডিয়ার সানসিং বাবাজি, ব্রিগেডিয়ার ক্লের ছাড়া আমিই ছিলাম একমাত্র বাঙালি। সেই ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনা যেভাবে কৌশলে এড়িয়ে যাওয়ার চেষ্টা হচ্ছে এমনিতেই অনেকে ভারত-পাকিস্তান যুদ্ধ বলার চেষ্টা করে, অনেকেই মুক্তিযুদ্ধ বলতে লজ্জাবোধ করে, নিয়াজির আত্মসমর্পণের সূচনায় বাঙালি হিসেবে উপস্থিত না থাকতে পারলে এত সম্পূর্ণ ভারতীয় বাহিনীর কৃতিত্ব বা বিজয় বলে তুলে ধরা হতো বা চালিয়ে দেওয়া হতো। আমাকে সরিয়ে রাখার জন্য বা ছোট করার জন্য কত জায়গায় আমার আর বঙ্গবন্ধুর ছবি সরিয়ে ফেলা হয়েছে। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে আমাকে বাদ দিতে গিয়ে যে বঙ্গবন্ধুকেও বাদ দিতে হচ্ছে এই সাধারণ জ্ঞান-বুদ্ধি, বিচার-বিবেচনাটুকুও জ্ঞানপাপী মহাপন্ডিতদের নেই। এর কোনো কিছুই ভালো নয়। সত্য সত্যই। ছোটরা বড় হলে, বড়রা বিদায় নেবে এটাই স্বাভাবিক। কিন্তু বড়দের অস্বীকার করে ভবিষ্যৎ বিনির্মাণ করতে গেলে তা দুর্বল হয়। একটি দেশের জন্মের সঠিক ইতিহাস না থাকলে নানারকম জটিলতা দেখা দেয়। আমাদের ক্ষেত্রে মোটেই তার ব্যতিক্রম হবে না। আমাদের অসচেতনতা কতখানি স্বাধীনতার এত বছর পরও হানাদার পাকিস্তানিদের পাকবাহিনী বলা থেকেই বোঝা যায়। নারী ধর্ষণ করে, ঘরবাড়ি জ¦ালিয়ে, খুন-খারাবি করে কেউ আল্লাহ-রসুল কোরআন-হাদিসের মতো পাক হতে পারে না। কিন্তু আমাদের অনেক বিদ্বান বুদ্ধিমান পন্ডিত কলম হাতে পেলেই নাপাক হানাদারদের পাকবাহিনী বলে জাহির করে। স্বাধীনতার এতদিন পরও অনেক জায়গায় সাধারণ মানুষও মুক্তিযুদ্ধকে ‘ঐ যে সেই গ-গোলের বছর’ বলে। এসবে কি আমাদের কোনো দুর্বলতা, ব্যর্থতা নেই? এখনো যদি আমরা স্বাভাবিক সত্যকে তুলে ধরতে না পারি তাহলে ভবিষ্যতে আমাদের সন্তান-সন্ততিরা দিশাহারা হবে, অন্ধকারে ডুবে যাবে।
