আজ বৃহস্পতিবার বেলা সাড়ে ১১টায় রংপুর সরকারি কলেজ মিলনায়তনে প্রিসাইডিং কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় সভা শেষে সাংবাদিকদের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে তিনি এসব বলেন।
রাশিদা সুলতানা বলেন, ইতিমধ্যে পোলিং এজেন্ট, প্রিসাইডিং কর্মকর্তাদের প্রশিক্ষণ, মক ভোটের আয়োজন, ইভিএম নিয়ে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি ও নির্বাচনে লেবেল প্লেয়িং ফিল্ড নিশ্চিত করার কাজ করছে নির্বাচন কমিশন। নির্বাচন সুষ্ঠুভাবে সম্পন্ন করতে প্রয়োজন মোতাবেক আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী দায়িত্বে থাকবে।
রাশিদা সুলতানা আরও বলেন, ‘নির্বাচনে প্রশাসনের কেউ হস্তক্ষেপ কিংবা প্রভাব খাটানোর চেষ্টা করলে আমরা নির্বাচন কমিশনকে জানাতে বলছি। এ রকম কিছু ঘটলে সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে। ভোট চলাকালে ইভিএমে ভোট দেওয়া সংক্রান্ত একটি কাগজের কপি লাইনে দাঁড়ানো ভোটারদের দেখানো হবে, যাতে কীভাবে ভোট দিতে হবে জানতে পারেন।’
এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন রংপুর সিটি করপোরেশন নির্বাচনের রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তা আবদুল বাতেন, রংপুর বিভাগীয় কমিশনার সাবিরুল ইসলাম, মেট্রোপলিটন পুলিশ কমিশনার নুরে আলম, জেলা প্রশাসক চিত্রলেখা নাজনীন প্রমুখ।
নির্বাচনে ২২৯টি কেন্দ্রে ২৭ ডিসেম্বর সকাল সাড়ে ৮টা থেকে বিকেল সাড়ে ৪টা পর্যন্ত ইভিএমে ভোট গ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ভোটার সংখ্যা ৪ লাখ ২৬ হাজার ৪৬৯।
