পদ্মা সেতুতে পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে ইলেকট্রনিক টোল কালেকশন (ইটিসি) সিস্টেম শুরু হয়েছে।
বুধবার (৫ জুলাই) সকাল সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে ইলেকট্রনিক পদ্ধতিতে টোল দিয়ে সেতু পার হন সেতু সচিব মঞ্জুর হোসেনসহ ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তারা।
বাংলাদেশ সেতু কর্তৃপক্ষের অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক আমিরুল হায়দার চৌধুরী বলেন, বর্তমানে কম্পিউটার কালেক্টর পদ্ধতিতে ম্যানুয়ালি টোল আদায় হচ্ছে। পদ্মা সেতুর উভয় প্রান্তে ১৫টি লেনে বর্তমান পদ্ধতিতে টোল আদায় করা হচ্ছে। এই প্রক্রিয়া আধুনিক করার ক্ষেত্রে এখন থেকে ১৭ টি লেন চালু থাকবে।
রেডিও ফ্রিকোয়েন্সি আইডেন্টিফিকেশন (আরএফআইডি) পদ্ধতিতে টোল আদায়ের জন্য সেতুর দুই প্রান্তে একটি করে মোট দুইটি বুথ রয়েছে। এই পদ্ধতিতে রেজিস্ট্রেশন করা গাড়ি টোল প্লাজার সামনে আসলেই রোবোটিক ক্যামেরা সেই গাড়িকে শনাক্ত করবে এবং সয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে নির্ধারিত টোল আদায় করা হবে। টোল আদায় হয়ে গেলে গাড়ির সামনে থেকে ব্যারিয়ার সরে যাবে।
আবার টাচ অ্যান্ড গো পদ্ধতিতে গ্রাহককে তার যানবাহন পারাপার করার জন্য একটি গ্রাহক কার্ড সংগ্রহ করতে হবে। কার্ডে ব্যালেন্স থাকলে কার্ডটি টাচ করে ক্যাশলেস টোল দেওয়া যাবে। তবে কেউ চাইলে ক্যাশেও টোল দিতে পারবেন এই বুথ থেকে।
এছাড়া যানবাহনের সামনে ড্যাশবোর্ড থাকবে। আরএফআইডি নম্বর সংযুক্ত হবে ব্যাংক হিসাবে। এই আইডিতে অগ্রিম টাকাও রিচার্জ করা যাবে। বিশ্বের জনপ্রিয় এই দুই পদ্ধতি শুরু হচ্ছে। এই টোল পদ্ধতিতে অপেক্ষায় থাকতে হবে না। প্রযুক্তির সঠিক ব্যবহারে খুশি ব্যবহারকারীরাও।
